How to wash a human hair wig

Human hair wigs do not replenish their own oils, so washing is about being gentle and generous with moisture.

1. 01Detangle dry hair from the ends upwards with a wide-tooth comb.
2. 02Rinse under lukewarm water, letting it run downwards only.
3. 03Apply a sulphate-free shampoo to the hair, not the knots, and stroke it through.
4. 04Rinse fully, then condition from mid-length to ends. Leave for five minutes.
5. 05Rinse cool, blot with a towel — never wring or rub.
6. 06Add leave-in or light oil, then air dry on a stand.
